Bald eagles are one of the largest birds of prey in North America, and their impressive size is often remarked upon by those lucky enough to see one up close.

Though exact measurements vary, most bald eagles have a wingspan around 6 to 7.5 feet (1.8 to 2.3 m) and stand between 30 to 37 inches (76 to 94 cm) tall. Females tend to be larger than males, weighing 10 to 14 pounds (4.5 to 6.3 kg) on average compared to 9 to 12 pounds (4 to 5.4 kg) for males.
